Winter is the most defining season of the year concerning Finnish mentality. Think about that you would be living one month long Christmas eve, day is very short, people are not anymore seeing sun. It comes back maybe in four weeks (one of traditional fairy tales told), children are covered with multiple layers of clothes when they are pushed away from the outdoor for their school day. Fathers are struggling with their old cars even older batteries and some people are cheering about new snow dropping from heaven. They can finally dig their skis out of storage and begin to remember the times when they were young and fit.
